ADPCL members are invited to post brief news items here. You may want to announce a faculty search, a recent hiring, an upcoming conference, a need for a short-term instructor, a transition in your unit, etc. Please limit most general announcements to 50 words or less, begin with the name of your unit, if relevant, add a date, and (where appropriate) include contact-information.  Job postings, however, can be longer as you will probably want to reproduce your official ad. Send your announcement to webmaster Julie White (jkw2@psu.edu) at Penn State for her to post. This page will periodically be revised by the webmaster and older items removed.

A report on the status of Comparative Literature as a discipline is being prepared by a group headed by Haun Saussy, Stanford (saussy@stanford.edu).

The Department of Comparative Literature at Penn State announces that Sophia McClennen has joined our faculty in Fall 2003 as Associate Professor of Comparative Literature and Spanish, with a specialty in Inter-American literature, and that Shu Kuge has joined our faculty in Fall 2003 as Assistant Professor of Comparative Literature and Japanese.
